Dr. Jorge Partida, known as Dr. Jorge, is a psychologist and author of “The Promise of the Fifth Sun: Ancestral Journey of Self Discovery”. This self-help book utilizes ancestral teachings from Toltec, Aztec and other native healing principles to inform and guide our present lives. As a psychologist, Dr. Jorge has worked in the areas of education, health, social services, leadership, economic development and employment. Throughout his career, Dr. Jorge has focused on the influences of culture, spirituality and the study of healing and wellness.

Dr. Jorge is the founder of J. Partida Consulting.  He provides services to government, law enforcement, education, health, social service and religious organizations.   His expertise includes the design, implementation and evaluation of services for populations most in need.  He has worked extensively with Latino and African-American youth and families who are challenged by poor health, addiction, gang violence and incarceration.

Dr. Jorge was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico.  At the age of nine, he immigrated to the greater Chicago area, where he grew up in Aurora, IL and was educated in the public school system.  Dr. Jorge received his associate’s degree from Waubonsee Community College, his B.S. from Loyola University and obtained his Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University.  In Chicago, Dr. Jorge has worked as Director of Social Services for Latino Youth, Inc., Director of Mental Health for Children’s Home and Aid Society, Inc., Director of Behavioral Health for Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital and served as core-faculty for the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

In 1998, Dr. Jorge moved to California, retracing the immigration pattern of his grandfather and father, who once worked the fields of Northern California. While in California, Dr. Jorge served as Director of the Doctorate Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at John F. Kennedy University and Deputy Director of Behavioral Health for the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).

For more than eight years, Dr. Jorge was a weekly presenter for the Univision Television Network in Chicago and San Francisco. His segments, entitled “Entre Nosotros” and “En Confianza”, brought crucial mental health awareness and information to the Latino Community. Dr. Jorge has also appeared numerous times on English television and Spanish radio.  He served as Associate Producer for “Nuestra Familia”, a Center for Investigative Reporting-PBS documentary exploring the nature of Latino Gangs and organized crime.  Dr. Jorge has an extensive background as a public and motivational speaker delivering keynote addresses throughout the United States, Africa, Latin-America and Europe.
