THE PROMISE OF THE FIFTH SUN

  • The heart, the human heart, in its “agony and ecstacy”as it moves along the road to meaning is the central theme of this book. It is certainly not just another contribution to the genre of “self-help” literature, but rather a profound work that transcends psychology , touching upon philosophy, theology, spirituality and mythology to bring an integrated and holistic understanding of the “why” of our existence. Being both a reflection of the author’s own inner journey as well as drawing upon the wealth of his clinical/counseling experiences, the book blends, in a truly innovative way, the ancient truths of the Toltec and Aztec peoples opening the reader to discover a path ever ancient and new, inviting one to be a conscious bearer of the promise of the fifth sun.

  • CAPTIVATING AND INTRIGUING ARE THE TWO WORDS THAT DESCRIBE THIS BOOK. ALTHOUGH I DO NOT SHARE THE SAME BELIEFS IT CAPTIVATED MY ATTENTION AND INTRIGUED ME TO THINK WHAT IF? MAYBE ? SOUNDS INTERESTING! THE COMPARISONS USED TO OTHER BELIEFS AND OR MYTHS WAS A NOT ONLY INTELLIGENT MOVE BUT ONE THAT RETAINED MY INTEREST AND KEPT ME READING.
WHAT I GOT OUT OF THE BOOK WAS NOT ONLY DOES EVERYONE NEED A PHYSICAL HEALING, IN DEPTH WE ALL NEED A SPIRITUAL ONE AS WELL!

  • The gift that Dr. Jorge offers the decendents of the Aztec’s with his work is astounding! I’ve spent many years looking for answers to the things that make no sense in my life and without a doubt this amazing work has brought forth many pieces of the puzzle for me. I now have a better understanding of the origin of some of my beliefs and also knowledge of the truths that were forgotten or missed along the way.

  • Recently, my curiosity about life, cultures, human behavior, and concepts of creation met its best challenge yet. I was offered a new and different lens to find the answers to some of my big questions such as: why people believe what they believe, why they do what they do, and my many other whys. The offer came in a form of a book titled The Promise of the Fifth Sun: Ancestral Journey of Self Discovery. The author, Dr. Jorge Partida, is a clinical and research psychologist with a strong viewpoint on integrative approach to healing. In this very first book of his, the author seamlessly blended his expertise in human behavior with spirituality and his Mexican American culture and experience.

The process of reading the book turned into a journey that has allowed me to explore a whole new story on humanity and gently confirmed my belief on the similarities of our human experience.

The author invites the readers on a journey to look at life as an uninterrupted movement from the beginning of time to our time today and to the future. When life is seen as an infinite line from the past, present and future, we recognize that history, culture, spirituality, human experience, and stories from the past shape the person we are today and the generation of tomorrow. All of these elements then deeply impact how we think and feel about ourselves and how we relate to others.

This book is truly intended for anyone who is curious about life, who asks themselves why they think what they think and do what they do while others think and do differently. This is a book that will be enjoyed by those who embrace cultures, stories of creation, and believe in their heart that we are more alike than we are different.”
